terrific twos

The start of Squirt's third year (well, you might call it her second, but, technically, she lived her first year before she even turned one, so I'm counting this as the start of her third) was terrific. She had quite an action-packed weekend. I could probably wax poetic about it, but will, instead, just write the basics in favor of more pictures (isn't a pictures supposed to be worth a thousand words, anyway?). On her birthday, she spent the afternoon at the park and then had her most favoritest of favorite dinners (pineapple, cranberry pork roast, if you wanna know), followed by Momma giving her a slew of Dr. Seuss books, to her delight. The following day, we went on a family hike to commemorate her birthday at Tent Rocks National Monument - somewhere none of us had ever been (pictures of which will be in a separate post). She hiked, scrambled, and explored, then fell asleep in her carrier as Momma hiked back down to the car. The weather was lovely, the hike beautiful, and the company charming. The NEXT day, some of Momma's dear friends pulled together a sweet little birthday party at the Botanical Garden - each person brought something different, from cupcakes to party hats to favors. On top of that, everyone brought delightful gifts. It couldn't have been more fun or picturesque! Squirt loved playing with her most special friends, blowing bubbles in the breeeze, and exploring the garden. Toward the end of the party, she decided it was time to kick it up a notch, and stripped down to her undershorts (which Momma had to convince her to keep on...). Squealing with laughter, she enthusiastically chased the ducks across the green. After that, the last day of her birthday weekend, her great-grandparents came through town to visit for the night. She was surprisingly excited to see them (generally, she hasn't been terribly thrilled to see them) and, literally bouncing off the walls, showed them how much zip she has hidden away in her teenseyness.

All in all, it was an absolutely lovely birthday; I couldn't have asked for a nicer party, better weather, or a more delightful little girl. Now onto the pictures!

The birthday! At the park and reading books.

It was windy...

Bear crawling up the steep wall leading to the slide.
She was very proud of herself at the top.

Super silly, super close up. She's super cute, boogers and all.

Her favorite right now is The ABC Book.
